Bitter melon is a strange looking fruit, it is considered a power house of vitamins and minerals in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). It lowers blood and urine sugar levels meaning that is it used in Asia as a medicine for diabetes. Bitter gourd as it is also know helps balance out blood sugar levels and helps with weight loss.
Here is one of my favourite skin supporting smoothies:
Mint leaves - a handful
Watermelon - a cup
Bitter melon (take the seeds out) - a cup
Juice all these together and then strain through a sieve, garnish with mint drink and enjoy!
